Continuous increases in petrol and diesel prices over the last 10 days have added to the financial burden on common citizens. Fuel rates have been hiked three times during this period, making petrol and diesel costlier by nearly ₹5 per litre.
On Saturday, petrol prices in Nagpur rose by around 90 paise to ₹108.97 per litre, while diesel prices increased by nearly ₹1 to ₹95.58 per litre. However, CNG prices remained unchanged in the city, even though rates went up by as much as ₹2 per kg in several other cities.
Amid global tensions and rising crude oil prices, the increase in fuel rates has started affecting household budgets, travel expenses, construction costs and other daily essentials.
Transporters Mahendra Yadav and Gopal Sharma said freight charges had already gone up by nearly 15 per cent, and the latest fuel hike has further worsened the situation.
Deepak Sane, President of the Vidarbha App-based Taxi Union, said taxi operators and daily wage earners are facing growing difficulties every day. He added that there is no effective authority at the company or administrative level to address their concerns.
