Vidarbha remained in the grip of an intense heatwave on Tuesday, with temperatures soaring past the 45-degree mark in multiple districts. Brahmpuri and Gadchiroli recorded the highest temperature in the region at 46.6°C, while Chandrapur followed closely at 46.4°C. Wardha also witnessed extreme heat at 46°C, adding to the scorching conditions across eastern Maharashtra.
Nagpur recorded a blistering 45.5°C, while Gondia touched 45.2°C. Amravati and Akola also continued to swelter under severe heatwave conditions after recording 44.4°C and 44.1°C respectively. Yavatmal and Washim registered 43.4°C each, with hot winds and dry weather making outdoor movement difficult during afternoon hours.
Buldana remained comparatively cooler at 41°C, though the district too experienced uncomfortable weather conditions throughout the day. Weather experts said the absence of rainfall activity and continuous dry winds are contributing to the sharp rise in temperatures across the Vidarbha region.
Doctors have advised residents to remain cautious amid the ongoing heatwave. People have been urged to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, drink sufficient water and include fluids like ORS, lemon water and coconut water in their diet. Health officials also warned against prolonged exposure to sunlight and advised citizens to immediately seek medical help if symptoms like exhaustion, headache, nausea or dehydration appear.
