Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the online movement Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), arrived in Delhi on Saturday ahead of the group’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar and appealed to supporters to maintain discipline and ensure the demonstration remains peaceful.
In a post on social media platform X, Dipke said he was looking forward to meeting supporters and urged participants to carry a book and the national flag. He also encouraged protesters to offer flowers to police personnel as a gesture of goodwill.
“Landed. Looking forward to meeting you all at Jantar Mantar. Do not forget to carry a book and our Tiranga! Offer flowers to policemen as a gesture of compassion & gratitude. We have to lead this movement with love and peace!” he wrote.
The protest has been organised by the youth-led online movement, which has been raising concerns over alleged irregularities in various examinations and recruitment tests, including NEET, CBSE, CUET, and SSC exams. The group has also demanded accountability and called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Dipke, who recently returned from the United States to participate in the campaign, has described the movement as a peaceful constitutional initiative. The Jantar Mantar gathering is expected to be the organisation’s first major on-ground mobilisation after gaining significant traction on social media.
Social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has expressed support for the protest, said he would undertake a six-week fast if Dipke is arrested. Wangchuk also urged participants to remain peaceful and cooperate with authorities.
He advised protesters to carry only essential items such as water bottles and mobile phones and encouraged them to bring flowers. He further said that anyone found carrying weapons or suspicious objects should be immediately reported to the police.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened across the national capital ahead of the protest. According to police officials, additional personnel have been deployed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, border entry points, and other sensitive locations.
Officials said no formal request seeking permission for the demonstration had been received. However, based on inputs gathered through social media monitoring and other channels, security arrangements have been put in place as a precautionary measure.
More than 1,000 police personnel have reportedly been deployed across New Delhi and other strategic locations. The organisers have also circulated guidelines urging participants to maintain non-violent conduct and avoid any confrontation during the demonstration.
