Nagpur’s Aditya Abhishek Somani has emerged as one of Maharashtra’s top performers in the MHT-CET 2026 examination, securing a perfect 100 percentile in the Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) group.The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell announced the results of the first-attempt MHT-CET 2026 on Tuesday. Across Maharashtra, only 11 students achieved a perfect 100 percentile in the PCB stream, with Aditya being the sole student from Nagpur to feature among the top scorers.
A student of Centre Point School, Wardhaman Nagar, Aditya has consistently excelled in academics and has been among the top rankers throughout his school years. He recently scored 695 marks in the NEET examination and is now preparing for a second attempt with the goal of pursuing a career in medicine.
Aditya comes from a family with a strong academic and medical background. His father, Dr. Abhishek Somani, heads the Department of Psychiatry at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH), while his mother is a noted gynaecologist. His elder brother, Abhinav Somani, is studying at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bengaluru, after achieving success in national-level entrance examinations.
The MHT-CET PCB examination was conducted from April 21 to April 26 across multiple centres in Maharashtra. More than 2.84 lakh candidates registered for the examination, with over 2.63 lakh appearing for the test.The CET Cell clarified that admissions will be based on percentile scores rather than percentage marks.
The admission process for pharmacy and agriculture courses is expected to begin shortly.Aditya’s achievement has brought pride to Nagpur’s academic community and adds another milestone to the city’s record of producing top-performing students in competitive examinations.
