Veteran theatre artist Sanjay Bhakre, who has been actively associated with the stage for the past 45 years and has consistently nurtured young talent while promoting the one-act play movement, was honoured with the “Advait Vidarbha Karandak Lifetime Achievement Award 2026” by Advait, Amravati.
The felicitation took place during the valedictory function of the Advait Vidarbha Karandak, a Vidarbha-level open Marathi one-act play competition being organized by the Advait institution since 2024. Senior actor-director Sadanand Borkar and Rajesh Wankhede were the chief guests on the occasion.
Responding to the honour, Sanjay Bhakre said that one-act plays serve as the primary link to Marathi theatre and have been instrumental in shaping many of today’s established artists. He noted that the 45-minute format of a one-act play helps theatre practitioners develop the ability to effectively present a play’s theme and demonstrate their artistic skills.
Along with Sanjay Bhakre, renowned Zhadipatti theatre artists Ravindra Kaleshwarwar (K. Ravi) and Kavita Prasad (Poonam Dange) were also honoured with the Natya Gaurav Award.
The successful organization of the festival was made possible through the efforts of Vishal Ramesh Taral, Vivek Raut, Vilas Pakde, Anuradha Wankhede, Sneha Taral, Advait Taral, Sanjeevani Purohit, Swati Taral, and Dr. Sham Deshmukh.
