Air travellers between Nagpur and Indore will have fewer travel options from June 15 as airlines continue to streamline operations amid rising aviation fuel costs. The daily flight service connecting the two cities is set to be temporarily suspended, affecting regular commuters on the route.
According to airline schedules, the existing daily Nagpur–Indore flight will stop operating from June 15. Services will resume from June 18, but flights will run on all days except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The suspension is likely to inconvenience business travellers, students and families who frequently travel between Nagpur and Indore.
Rising fuel costs behind cuts
Industry sources said the move is part of a broader effort by airlines to control operational expenses, particularly in view of increasing Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices. Carriers across the country have been reassessing route viability and adjusting schedules on several domestic sectors.
In recent weeks, Nagpur has witnessed a reduction in flight frequencies on multiple routes as airlines optimise their networks.
Delhi, Mumbai services reduced
Flight connectivity between Nagpur and Delhi has also been scaled down. While passengers earlier had access to 7–8 daily flights, the number has now been reduced to around 5 services a day.
Similarly, the Nagpur–Mumbai route is currently being served by only 5 daily flights.
Navi Mumbai schedule revised
Changes have also been made on the Nagpur–Navi Mumbai sector. Flight 6E-582, which currently operates daily, will continue only until June 15.
From June 16, another IndiGo service will take over the route but will initially operate only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A revised schedule from June 18 is expected to run on all days except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Other routes affected
Several additional routes from Nagpur are also witnessing frequency reductions:
- IndiGo flight 6E-6803 to Bengaluru, scheduled to depart at 11:55 PM, will be suspended from June 15.
- One of the three daily Hyderabad services, flight 6E-7526, will be withdrawn from June 15.
- IndiGo flight 6E-505 to Kolkata, which operated every Wednesday at 9:25 AM, has already been suspended since June 10.
Passengers may face fewer choices
With flight frequencies being reduced across key routes, passengers could face higher airfares, limited schedule flexibility and longer waits for preferred travel timings. Frequent flyers and business travellers are expected to bear the brunt of the changes.
