Maharashtra Cyber has registered an FIR against stand-up comedian Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra, Dr Sejal Pawar and several others over the alleged circulation of obscene and objectionable content on social media platforms.
According to an official statement issued on June 11, the case has been registered at the Nodal Cyber Police Station under FIR No. 36/2026. The charges have been filed under Sections 75(1)(iv), 75(3), 294 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.Maharashtra Cyber has also issued summons to More, Jangra and Pawar, directing them to appear before investigators for questioning and recording of statements.
Content Under Probe
Officials stated that one of the clips under investigation allegedly shows Himanshu Jangra making remarks implying entitlement to physical intimacy in return for money spent during a date. Authorities claim the comments were derogatory towards women and appeared to trivialise issues of consent and dignity.In another video, Dr Sejal Pawar allegedly made obscene remarks regarding deceased male bodies and medical cadavers used for educational purposes. Investigators said the comments were disrespectful to the dignity of the deceased and violated accepted standards of public decency.
According to Maharashtra Cyber, the content was recorded, promoted, published and circulated across digital platforms as part of a programme hosted by Pranit More. Authorities allege the material was used to boost viewership, audience engagement and revenue through online monetisation.
Officials said further legal action will be taken against all those found involved, in accordance with the law.
Advisory for Social Media Users
Maharashtra Cyber has urged social media users not to create, share or circulate obscene and objectionable content online. The agency warned that the dissemination of such material could attract legal action and advised citizens to use social media responsibly while reporting unlawful content to the authorities.
