The worst fears of residents in the Besa-Pipla-Ghogli area came true after incomplete road works left them stranded following the season’s first heavy pre-monsoon showers on Friday evening, while authorities appeared to remain indifferent to their plight.
Residents of Pyramid-4 City found themselves virtually cut off as access roads to the locality became unusable after the rain. The stretch branching off Ghogli Road towards Mount Litera Zee School and further leading to Ensara Park turned into a muddy mess, making movement extremely difficult.
Citizens said the entire road was covered with slush and mud, leaving hardly any space even for pedestrians to walk safely.
According to residents, road concretisation work has been underway for the past four months, but progress has been painfully slow. With the monsoon now setting in, people are worried about how they will commute through the area in the coming weeks.
The situation has been compounded by ongoing underground sewage pipeline works in several localities of Besa-Pipla-Ghogli. Residents said roads that were previously in good condition were dug up for the project, causing inconvenience for months.
The delayed concretisation work has further aggravated the problems, leaving commuters and local residents struggling with poor road conditions.
Adding to their woes is the sluggish pace of concretisation work on the Besa-Pipla Road, which continues to cause major inconvenience to daily commuters and motorists travelling through the area.
