A tiger was found dead on Saturday morning in the Chanoda area of the South Umred Forest Range under the Umred forest division. Forest officials discovered the carcass near a small stream while conducting a routine patrol in the compartment area of the forest.
According to the Forest Department, the tiger was estimated to be around five years old. Senior forest officials immediately rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation.
The examination and subsequent procedures were carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
The carcass was brought to the forest office premises, where a post-mortem examination was conducted in the presence of forest officials, veterinary experts, NTCA representatives, and other authorized personnel. Samples and evidence were collected for further analysis.
Preliminary findings indicate that all body parts, including claws, teeth, skin, paws, and whiskers, were intact, suggesting no signs of poaching. Forest officials also noted that the tiger had likely consumed prey approximately five to six days before its death.
However, the exact cause of death will be determined only after the post-mortem and laboratory reports are received. A case of tiger death has been officially registered, and further investigation is being carried out by the Forest Department. Forest authorities have assured that a detailed inquiry is underway and appropriate action will be taken based on the final findings.
