The Maharashtra Government has granted a one-year extension to the ‘Special Amnesty Scheme-2025’, providing additional time for the regularisation of breach-of-condition cases and conversion of residential and commercial properties into freehold in notified areas allotted to displaced Sindhi families. The Revenue and Forest Department issued a Government Resolution (GR) formalising the extension.
The move, approved under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is aimed at addressing long-pending property-related issues faced by the displaced Sindhi community. The extension follows sustained efforts by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. According to the GR, the scheme, which came into effect on May 15, 2025, has now been extended for another year from May 15, 2026.
The decision is expected to benefit thousands of displaced Sindhi families by giving them more time to regularise their residential and commercial properties and secure legal ownership rights. The Government stated that the extension was necessary as a large number of applications remain under process, ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries get an opportunity to avail themselves of the scheme.
All other provisions and conditions of the Special Amnesty Scheme-2025 will remain unchanged.
