Sewer line-related complaints are mounting in the Tajabad area, with residents alleging inadequate maintenance and delayed action by the civic administration.
According to local representatives, more than 150 complaints registered through the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s online grievance system remain pending, causing inconvenience to residents and creating sanitation concerns in several localities.
Citizens have complained that sewer chambers are not being cleaned regularly and that accumulated mud and silt are not being removed on time. The lack of maintenance has reportedly led to frequent blockages, overflowing chambers, foul odour, and unhygienic conditions, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season.
Raising the issue, Nagpur Municipal Corporation corporator Shakil Patel said repeated complaints by residents have failed to elicit a satisfactory response from the concerned department. He alleged that despite numerous grievances being registered online, many remain unresolved.
In a dramatic show of protest and to highlight the seriousness of the issue, Patel himself entered a sewer chamber and removed accumulated mud and debris. He said public representatives should not be compelled to undertake such tasks and urged the civic administration to immediately clear the pending complaints, intensify desilting operations, and ensure regular maintenance of sewer infrastructure across the Tajabad area.
