An adult leopard was found dead in the Pipla Bhadi area under the Kelwad Police Station limits on Wednesday, with preliminary findings suggesting it was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle.
The incident came to light after social activist Hitesh Bansod alerted Saoner SDPO Sagar Kharde about the carcass. Acting swiftly on the information, Forest Department officer Vijay Gangawane and his team rushed to the spot. Kelwad Police Station officer Suraj Parmar also reached the scene and conducted a spot panchnama.
According to preliminary observations, the leopard is suspected to have died due to injuries sustained in the collision with an unidentified vehicle. The Forest Department has taken custody of the carcass and initiated the necessary legal procedures.
Officials said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem.
