While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall alerts for several districts across Maharashtra, Nagpur is expected to remain largely free from the threat of intense rain over the next few days.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Mumbai’s forecast for the period between July 6 and July 10, Nagpur has been placed under a Green Alert on Sunday, indicating no significant weather-related threat.
The IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in the district on July 6. However, no Yellow, Orange or Red Alert has been issued for Nagpur between July 7 and July 10, indicating that widespread heavy rainfall is unlikely during this period.
Weather officials said the city is likely to witness intermittent rain, cloudy skies and occasional thunderstorms over the coming days. However, there is no immediate likelihood of extremely heavy rainfall or flood-like conditions. In contrast, the IMD has issued heavy rainfall warnings for several districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri and parts of the Western Ghats, where intense showers are expected over the next few days.
Authorities have advised residents in the affected districts to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, while Nagpur is expected to experience comparatively milder monsoon conditions through July 10.
