Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur (MNLU Nagpur), established under the Maharashtra National Law University Act, 2014, is the country’s nineteenth National Law University. Spread across a 60-acre campus in Nagpur, the institution has emerged as a prominent centre for legal education, research and advocacy, offering programmes including B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.A. LL.B. (Hons. in Adjudication and Justicing), B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M. and Ph.D.
The university is set to host the third edition of its flagship national debating tournament, the Orange Capital Debate 2026, from July 31 to August 2. Organised by the university’s Quiz, Debate and Literary Committee, the event aims to promote critical thinking, intellectual engagement and competitive debating among students from across the country.
Named after Nagpur’s identity as the Orange City, the tournament will follow the British Parliamentary format, in which participants are divided into the Proposition and Opposition benches, each further split into Opening and Closing teams. Every team will comprise two speakers, while the adjudication policy for the tournament will follow the N=N+1 format. Cross teams will also be permitted.
The competition is open to students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at universities recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Graduates from UGC-recognised institutions are also eligible to participate.
