Large parts of South-West Nagpur, represented by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, witnessed severe waterlogging following heavy rainfall on Monday, with residents blaming ongoing road and infrastructure works for the worsening situation.
Several localities, including Jaitala, Swawlambi Nagar, Khamla, Pratap Nagar, Vyankatesh Nagar, Narendra Nagar and Manish Nagar, were inundated as rainwater accumulated on roads and entered residential areas, severely disrupting daily life. Commuters faced massive traffic snarls, while pedestrians struggled to navigate submerged streets.
Residents alleged that incomplete road construction, poor drainage planning, and delayed civic works prevented the smooth flow of rainwater, leading to flooding across several stretches. Many questioned why infrastructure projects were left unfinished before the onset of the monsoon, leaving citizens to bear the consequences.
The situation also affected movement of schoolchildren, office-goers and emergency services, with several roads remaining waterlogged for hours. Locals have urged the administration to immediately clear blocked drains, improve stormwater management and expedite the pending construction works to prevent similar situations during the remaining monsoon season.
