Nagpur district authorities have submitted complete details of nearly 38,000 eligible farmers to the state government under the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Farmer Agricultural Loan Waiver Scheme. While the scheme’s lists have since been released, officials are unable to confirm exactly how many farmers have been finally deemed “eligible,” as the figure remains locked behind a technical dashboard issue.
Officials said banks have not been granted permission for statistical data analysis, which has prevented the district from ascertaining the exact number of eligible farmers. The scheme waives farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh for eligible farmers, though the government has excluded elected representatives, taxpaying officials, and traders from the benefit.
Eligible farmers’ names are being displayed at tehsil offices, cooperative societies, gram panchayats, and bank branches, including district central cooperative and nationalised banks. Farmers named on these lists must complete Aadhaar authentication to avail the waiver — without it, the benefit will not be disbursed.
The district’s deputy registrar office has received 1,093 PDF files listing eligible farmers, some containing just one or two names each, with roughly 10,000 names counted so far. “All farmers in the received PDFs are eligible. Since the dashboard isn’t visible, we cannot confirm the exact number of eligible farmers,” said Ajay Kadu, District Deputy Registrar, Nagpur.
