Passengers travelling from Nagpur to Bengaluru faced inconvenience on Monday after an IndiGo flight was cancelled shortly before departure due to a technical fault detected during routine pre-flight checks.
The flight was scheduled to depart from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport at 10.25 am. During the mandatory engineering inspection, technicians identified a technical issue with the aircraft.
As a precautionary measure, the airline cancelled the flight, prioritising passenger safety.The fault was detected before boarding began, ensuring that no passengers boarded the aircraft. IndiGo informed travellers about the cancellation and started making alternative travel arrangements.
The aircraft was later moved to the hangar for a detailed technical inspection. Engineers are examining the cause of the fault, and the aircraft will be cleared for service only after the necessary repairs and safety checks are completed.
The cancellation disrupted the travel plans of several passengers, including those with connecting domestic and international flights from Bengaluru.Others were travelling for business meetings, medical appointments, educational commitments and other important engagements. Many passengers had to wait at the airport while the airline arranged rebooking and shared updates.
According to airline sources, affected passengers are being offered alternative flights, ticket rescheduling or refunds in line with the airline’s policy.
IndiGo reiterated that passenger safety remains its top priority and said cancelling the flight after detecting the technical issue was the safest decision.
Aviation experts noted that routine pre-flight inspections are intended to identify such faults before take-off, helping prevent potential in-flight incidents.
