Panic created among the sanitation workers of Gandhibagh zone after they were handed over the salary slip of this month. The salary of almost 90% of the workers got deducted, that too of over 20 days despite their presence was marked in the field. It may be noted that, this month, at Gandhibagh zone, a new system of attendance on the basis of GPS clock was implemented for the sanitation workers. The workers are now supposed to get their salary on the basis of their attendance as per GPS clock.
However, they protested in front of NMC office on July 6 and discussed their issue with Health officer Dr Sunil Kamble. When officiating commissioner Ravindra Thakre came to know about the problem of sanitation workers, he assured to look after the matter and provide the salary on the basis of manual attendance.
As per the information received, a total number of 851 sanitation workers are registered at Gandibagh zone with NMC. Out of them, it was shown in the GPS reading that only around 90% of the workers attendant the work between 0-15 days. Few got the salary of two days, some received the salary of just 7 days and so forth.
Also, there were some workers, who did not get the salary at all. Adding more shock to this, the person who marked attendance of workers, got the salary of just 11 days as per the GPS marking.
