Raising concern over fire at Ambazari forest, the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has asked the forest management committee to come out with measures to prevent such wild fire. In May this year a massive fire broke out in Ambazari forest under Hingna range. Flora on 125 hectare of land was gutted.
The committee was granted July 24 deadline to reply. The HC bench comprising Justice Vinay Joshi and Justice Ravi Deshpande was hearing a public interest litigation filed before the Nagpur Bench of Bombay Court.
The forest is spread over 2000 acre. Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra and Hingna MIDC own this land. The forest has a thick green cover. After the State government launched sapling plantation drive, many saplings were also planted. After May inferno, HC took suo moto of the incident.
