Recently the cyber crimes in India almost doubled and the citizens of Nagpur have lost Rs 5,70, 25,866 in nearly four years and the city police has registered  368 cases of cybercrime in the city. A recent RTI  has revealed the facts of increasing cyber crimes in the city. These cybercrimes are happened during the period of four years from 2016 to 2019 and  368 incidents were reported of which 81 were cracked by the police. Data is now being collected in greater detail for several categories of crimes.

And as per information, at least 50 cases are pending in the court while investigations continue in other FIRs. And in property cheating category, the cyber cell has registered 50 cases. And in the case of misuse of debit and credit cards,51 FIRs were registered and  Rs. 36,58,381 was lost by people. As per reports, in on-line banking cheating, 37 cases were reported and people have lost Rs.47,76,877 in this fraud. Another cyber fraud reported is that the misuse of OTP, in this category people, have lost Rs.26,98,968 and  17 FIRs were lodged. Many cases are still pending due to the complexity of the cyber crimes. The shocking data comes in the backdrop of India aspiring to become a trillion-dollar digital economy.
