‘Inter-city Forum’ will play an important role in city development: Deputy Mayor

An inter-city forum has been organized by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and the All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG) under the Equity Project at Hotel Center Point at Ramdaspeth on Saturday.

Deputy Mayor Manisha Kothe inaugurated the forum. She expressed confidence that the ‘Inter-City Forum’ would play an important role in the exchange of ideas for the development process.

For the development of a city, it is important to exchange ideas among the representatives of the local self-government. Also, the involvement of common people in the development process may prove beneficial, she said.

Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi, former Mayor Nanda Jhichkar, Nagpur Smart & Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable City Development Corporation Ltd, Dr. Ramnath Sonawane, Amravati City Mayor Chetan Gawande, Deputy Mayor Kusum Sahu, Jayant Pathak, Divisional Director, All India Institute of Local Self Government, All India Institute Director of Local Self-Government. Amrita Anand etc. was present.

During the discussion session, former Mayor Nanda Jhichkar raised her opinion on Sustainable Development / Governance. The development of the city requires proper coordination of representatives, officials, and the public. City development is impossible without the support of citizens. People’s participation and cooperation make the process much easier. Apart from this, the role of NGOs working in the city is also very important, said Jhichkar.
