A bird watching programmes was organised at Ambazari Biodiversity Park on Thursday to mark Bird Week being celebrated till Friday on the occasion of birthday of Maruti Chitampalli and Padma Vibhushan Dr Salim Ali in which 55 young birders participated.
They sighted different species of birds including Northern Pintail, Ruddy Shelduck, Little Brebe, Greater Cormorants, Purple Swamphen, Common Moorthen, Red-breasted Flycatcher, Red-crested Pochard, Warblers and others. The watchers were overwhelmed when they saw a pair of Throated Sparrow, called as Sparrow of Salim Ali.
On the occasion, Avinash Londhe, Kundan Hate, both Honorary Wildlife Wardens, and others guided the participants, gave information about migration of birds from Europe, Siberia, Mongolia, China, Tiber routes to India and other aspects of birds.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr Bharat Singh Hada, Deputy Conservator of Forest, and S T Kale, Asstt Conservator of Forest. Ahish Ninawe, Range Forest Officer, Archana Naukarkar, Range Forest Officer, S F Fulzele, Aarto Bhakre and Rupali Gadekar took active part . The specialists and officers were given Ambazari Bird Books.
