Vehicle Scrappage Policy to come into effect from April 1

Under the Vehicle Scrappage Policy, the federal government has determined on the life of government and private vehicles. It will be implemented on April 1, 2022. Government and commercial vehicles older than 15 years will be scrapped under it. Private automobiles have a 20-year age restriction.

If a vehicle is over 10 years old, it must pass a fitness test, according to the policy. If it passes the exam, it will have to pay a green tax instead of a registration fee. After that, it can be utilised for another five years. If a vehicle that is 20 years old fails the fitness test, its registration will be cancelled.

First and foremost, the federal government has opted to phase out older government vehicles. Within 30 days, citizens were asked to provide suggestions and criticisms.

Because the rule is for government, no protest is expected, and it will take effect on April 1st.

The majority of government vehicles are elderly and in need of repair. The majority of government vehicles are outdated, requiring significant maintenance and fuel expenditures. Because the departments are unable to purchase new vehicles due to a lack of funds, they must make do with what they have. This policy will most likely help all government departments.
