The Crime branch police arrested a man in two-wheeler theft incidents. Police recovered 20 two-wheelers from him. The target of this thief were the vehicles parked at the metro stations of the city. The accused used to take the stolen vehicles to Madhya Pradesh and dispose them.
There were many incidents of two-wheeler theft from the city’s metro stations. After receiving continuous complaints, when the team of Crime Branch investigated, the CCTV footage found in most of the theft incidents the same accused. The team had set a trap at a metro station located in MIDC campus, during which the accused was caught by the police.
Arrested accused identified as Rahul Sukhdev Thackeray (37) is resident of Satner Betul, Madhya Pradesh. He was living in a rented room in Minimata Nagar under Kalamna police . Around 20 two-wheelers stolen from rural areas including Nagpur city have been seized by the police, whose value is said to be around Rs 12.5 lakh.
The accused confessed to stealing two-wheelers from Pratap Nagar, MIDC, Lakadganj, Hudkeshwar, Nandanvan, Yashodhara Nagar in the city and Kalmeshwar, Narkhed in the rural. Investigation revealed that the accused used to steal vehicles parked at Metro stations with the help of duplicate keys.
