In a crackdown on illegal ticket sales, Sadar police on Monday apprehended two men for allegedly impersonating Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) officials and selling tickets for the India vs England ODI match at exorbitant rates.
The accused have been identified as Manohar Hemdas Wanjari (62) of Gandhibagh and Rahul Bhaudas Ramteke (38) from Dattawadi.
According to police sources, the duo targeted cricket fans by pretending to be VCA representatives and offering match tickets at inflated prices. Acting on a tip-off, Sadar police conducted a swift operation and caught the suspects red-handed.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 31(4), 319, and 62 of the BNS. Police have ramped up surveillance to prevent further ticket black-marketing ahead of the much-anticipated cricket match.
