Vidarbha’s yoga team secured a historic victory at the 36th National Yoga Championship held at the Madinapur Sports Complex in West Bengal.
The championship saw strong participation, with 26 players from Vidarbha excelling in the rhythmic and artistic yoga categories. Vidarbha claimed the title with a total of 109 points, outpacing West Bengal, which secured second place with 72 points, and Maharashtra, which finished third with 37 points. In the traditional yoga category, West Bengal emerged victorious with 179 points, followed by Madhya Pradesh (145) and Maharashtra (107).
The Vidarbha women’s junior group also achieved top honors. Rudransh Dongre won gold in the group event, while Sneha Bhure, Gayatri Patil, Sonia Bute, and Rudrani Bhure secured silver medals in individual performances. Other standout athletes included Shrikant Ghodmode and Onkar Uttekar in the junior boys’ category, along with Neha Naleskar and Tanusha Awatkar, who excelled in their respective events.
Senior coach Sunil Posankar and technical expert Dr. Pankaj Khandelwal played a key role in preparing the athletes, with additional mentorship from Aniket Thoke and Ravindra Bommare. Vidarbha Yoga Association Chairman Pramod Walmandre, President Rajiv Itkelwar, Treasurer Sachin Mathane, and General Secretary Dr. Shrikant Warankar congratulated the players and coaching staff on their remarkable achievement.
