The Madhya Pradesh Hastashilp Evam Hathkargha Vikas Nigam Limited is set to host the ‘Mrignayani Madhya Pradesh Hasthshilp Mela’ at the South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC) in Civil Lines from March 15 to 23. The exhibition will feature over 40 exhibitors, showcasing a diverse range of handcrafted products.
A Showcase of Madhya Pradesh’s Rich Handloom Heritage
The mela will highlight the craftsmanship of Chanderi and Maheshwari weavers, with Chanderi sarees being a major attraction, available at prices starting from ₹5,000. Visitors can also explore innovative and attractive Maheshwari sarees, said M.L. Sharma, Regional Manager.
In addition to textiles, the exhibition will feature Panchadhatu sculptures and tribal crafts from Tikamgarh and Betul districts, offering a glimpse into the region’s rich artistic traditions.
Promoting Local Artisans and Their Craft
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Sharma emphasized that the event aims to showcase the traditional and modern arts and crafts of Madhya Pradesh, promote local artisans, connect them with connoisseurs, and provide opportunities for skill development, marketing, and design innovation.
The mela is expected to draw art lovers and shoppers keen on exploring Madhya Pradesh’s vibrant handloom and handicraft heritage.
