The relaxation in curfew in areas under five police stations in Nagpur has been withdrawn. The Commissioner of Police Dr Ravindra Singal imposed a curfew in areas under nine police stations after the riots on March 17. On Thursday (March 20) curfew was relaxed in areas under six police stations. However, the order was withdrawn on Friday. The reason for withdrawing the relaxation in curfew, however, is not known.
Although there is no report of fresh violence in Nagpur, the Police Commissioner has extended curfew in areas under Ganeshpeth, Thasil, Kotwali, Lakadganj, Panchpaoli, Shantinagar, Sakkardara, Imamwada and Yashodhara Nagar police stations.
Meanwhile, security was beefed up around mosques in Nagpur on Friday. The schools, shops, and other establishments in the areas under curfew are closed. A delegation of traders in Nagpur also met the Police Commissioner and discussed losses incurred by business houses in these areas due to the curfew.
