Students from the open category who belong to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) can now benefit from a 10% reservation in private, unaided medical colleges in Maharashtra. These colleges will have to reserve 10% of their State quota seats for EWS students.
This update was shared in the admission brochure released by the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell for medical courses.
With this step, Maharashtra becomes the first state in India to implement EWS reservation in private unaided medical institutions, as per education experts. The move is expected to bring significant relief to students from economically weaker backgrounds.
Registration for Medical Courses Begins
The CET Cell has started the registration process for medical admissions from Wednesday. Courses include MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BNYS, BPTH, BOTH, BASLP, and BPO.
Students can register until July 30, and the first merit list for MBBS and BDS courses will be announced on August 7.
The detailed brochure and admission schedule for all courses have been published by the State CET Cell.
