A minor mishap occurred on the Nagpur Airport Road around 5 PM today, when a Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara (bearing registration number 23BH 5579A) veered off the road and mounted the central road divider.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place on the well-trafficked stretch of the road near the “Fly High” signboard. The SUV, seemingly due to misjudgment or loss of control, climbed the yellow-black painted median with its front wheels landing in the bushes and rear wheels dangerously suspended over the divider.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. A security personnel was seen inspecting the scene shortly after the incident, ensuring the situation remained under control. The vehicle sustained minor damage to its underbody and front bumper.
Commuters on the route experienced brief slowdowns due to curiosity and temporary lane obstruction. No other vehicle was involved in the incident.
Authorities are yet to confirm if the driver faced any medical emergency or mechanical issue leading to the mishap. The vehicle was later removed from the divider with the assistance of bystanders and traffic personnel.
This incident once again highlights the need for attentive driving, especially on turns and medians, and calls for improved road signage and safety measures on high-speed city stretches like the Airport Road.
