Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off about loud DJ music being played at Farzi Café in Dharampeth, Sitabuldi police conducted a late-night raid and found high-volume music being played at Toquo Bar, located on the 8th floor of the same building. The raid led to the seizure of DJ equipment worth ₹1.10 lakh and registration of a case against the bar manager.
According to Sitabuldi Police, the control room received a complaint around 12:35 am on July 27, reporting loud music and disturbances from Farzi Café. In response, Police Sub-Inspector Nilesh Jayram Wagh, along with constables Suresh, Pravin Peter, and Umesh, immediately proceeded to the location.
On reaching the site, the team found that the loud DJ music was actually coming from Toquo Bar, not Farzi Café. The officers instructed staff to shut down the music and questioned the bar manager, who identified himself as Rahul Mahadev Somkuwar (40), a resident of Shivaji Garden, Shivaji Nagar, Nagpur.
When asked to provide legal permission for playing DJ music or conducting an event, Somkuwar failed to produce any valid authorization. On directions from senior officers, the police seized the following equipment:
• 1 DJ Sound Box, valued at ₹20,000
• 1 Audio Mixer, valued at ₹90,000
Total value of seized equipment: ₹1.10 lakh
Police officials stated that the manager is a repeat offender and had previously disregarded noise regulations. By playing loud music without permission, he violated the prohibitory orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Nagpur.
A case has been registered against Rahul Somkuwar under Sections 293 and 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 33(1), 131, and 36 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
Further investigation is ongoing.
