Organ Donation Fortnight will be observed in Maharashtra from August 3 to 15. Maharashtra’s Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Prakash Ambitkar directed the regional authorities to prepare for the mission while addressing a meeting to plan for the Fortnight. Minister of State Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, Public Health Commissioner Dr Kadambari Balkawde, regional officers of the health department, and others were present.
Effective ways of generating awareness is important, as a large number of patients are waiting for organ donors. The donors and recipients should be felicitated during the fortnight, and their views should be placed before the media, Ambitkar said.
Training and workshops should be organised, and the employees of the department should be guided to generate awareness among the masses.
Bordikar also emphasised the importance of generating awareness.
