Raksha Bandhan is a festival that celebrates the love between brothers and sisters. Every year, markets come alive with festive fervor, but this year, rakhis with a jewelry-like appearance are the main attraction. These intricately designed rakhis have captured customers’ attention, with prices ranging from ₹100 to ₹1,000 and beyond.
Shops across Nagpur are offering a wide variety of rakhis, from stylish and modern designs to traditional patterns. Handmade rakhis, eco-friendly threads, and designer pieces embedded with beads, stones, and metallic charms are in high demand. Retailers are reporting a surge in footfall as families flock to purchase these festive essentials.
Cartoon Rakhis for Children
For children, cartoon-themed rakhis featuring popular characters like Chhota Bheem, Motu Patlu, Doraemon, and Spider-Man are trending. These colorful and playful rakhis are priced between ₹20 and ₹150, making them popular among young buyers. Many shopkeepers are also offering combo packs of rakhis and chocolates to attract families.
With rising awareness about sustainability, rakhis made of natural fibers, seeds, and plantable materials are attracting eco-conscious buyers. Many of these handmade rakhis feature delicate detailing and vibrant colors, ensuring they are both stylish and environmentally friendly.
Price Surge by 5–10%
According to local vendors, the cost of raw materials has increased this year, resulting in a 5–10% rise in rakhi prices. Designer rakhis, which resemble jewelry pieces, are witnessing the highest demand. Popular styles are priced between ₹300 and ₹350, while premium rakhis with intricate beadwork can cross the ₹1,000 mark.
“Every year, rakhis with a jewelry-like finish are top sellers. This time, customers are particularly drawn to intricate and premium designs,” said Ramesh Sharma, a rakhi vendor.
“The rise in prices hasn’t affected sales; in fact, the demand for stylish and decorative rakhis is higher than last year,” added Pooja Verma, another local shopkeeper.
With festive cheer in the air, Nagpur’s markets are expected to witness business worth crores this Raksha Bandhan, as brothers and sisters gear up to celebrate their cherished bond with style.
