Expressing grief about the death of six people, including four children in two different road accidents in Gadchiroli and Parbhani on Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced financial help of Rs 4 Lakhs to the families of the deceased children. Two others injured in the accidents are being treated at a government hospital. Fadnavis also announced that the government will bear the expenses on their treatment.
Six children on the Gadchiroli-Nagpur Highway were hit by a truck on Thursday morning. The truck fled the spot after the accident. Two of the victims died on the spot, while two others died on the way to a hospital. The remaining two have been referred to a hospital in Nagpur for treatment. The accident occurred in Katli village on the highway.
The four minors were identified as Tinku Namdev Bhoyar (14), Dushan Duryodhan Meshram (14), Tanmay Balaji Mankar (16), and Tushar Rajendra Marbhate (14). Two others, Kshitij Tulsiram Meshram and Aditya Dhananjay Kohpure, received serious injuries and have been hospitalised. Their condition is stated to be critical. They had gone for a morning walk when they met with the accident.
In Parbhani, two women on a morning walk were hit by an unknown vehicle near Daidhana village on the Parbhani-Gangakhed Highway. Both died on the spot. The vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene after the accident.
