In a major crackdown on counterfeit goods, Tehsil Police in Nagpur raided two shops in the bustling Itwari–Tanga Stand area and seized fake Fastrack watches and accessories worth ₹1.12 lakh. Two shop owners have been booked under the Copyright Act.
The accused have been identified as Tilakraj Bhagwandas Ahuja (58), proprietor of Baba Watch Company, and Shankardas Jogaram Choudhary (31), owner of Chamunda Novelty. Both are residents of Nagpur.
The action was initiated after a complaint by Gaurav Tiwari (38), a New Delhi resident and representative of SNG Solicitors, the authorised manufacturer of Fastrack watches under Titan Company Limited. Tiwari had received information about fake Fastrack watches being sold in Itwari. After confirming the details, he approached Tehsil Police with a written request for action.
Acting on the tip-off, police raided Baba Watch Company and recovered 767 counterfeit Fastrack watches and 2,100 watch dials, collectively valued at ₹55,450. A raid at Chamunda Novelty led to the seizure of 17 fake watches and other items worth ₹56,640.
Tehsil Police have registered an offence against both shop owners under Sections 51 and 63 of the Copyright Act. Further investigation is underway.
