In a clear violation of traffic safety rules, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Dr. Ashish Deshmukh was seen riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet during the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ bike rally held at Saoner.
The rally, which was organized as part of Independence Day celebrations to promote the national flag campaign, witnessed a large gathering of participants waving the Tricolour and riding in a convoy. Despite the presence of traffic police and other law enforcement personnel on the route, no action appeared to be taken against the MLA for not wearing the mandatory protective gear.
According to the Motor Vehicles Act, wearing a helmet is compulsory for all two-wheeler riders, including public representatives, and violation attracts penalties. The incident has drawn attention on social media, where questions have been raised over the selective enforcement of rules and the example set by public figures.
The visuals from the event show Dr. Deshmukh leading the rally on a red motorcycle adorned with rally insignia, followed by supporters on bikes and scooters. The absence of a helmet, especially in an official public event, has sparked criticism about road safety awareness and adherence to traffic regulations.
Authorities are yet to issue any official statement regarding the traffic rule violation during the Saoner rally.
