The much-awaited reality show “Bigg Boss 19” has officially begun, with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan returning as the host for yet another season.
This year’s edition, however, has received a lukewarm response at launch due to what viewers are calling an “underwhelming line-up” of contestants.
The contestants entering the Bigg Boss house this season include Gaurav Khanna, Amaal Mallik, Awez Darbar, Ashnoor Kaur, Mridul Tiwari, Nagma Mirajkar, Kunickaa Sadanand, Baseer Ali, Abhishek Bajaj, Tanya Mittal, Zeishan Quadri, Nehal Chudasama, Natalia Janoszek, Pranit More, Farhana Bhatt, and Neelam Giri.
This season promises a mix of actors, influencers, musicians, and reality stars, each bringing their personal journeys and public personas into the spotlight. Yet, apart from Amaal Mallik, Gaurav Khanna, and Ashnoor Kaur, most contestants remain relatively unknown to the audience.
Gaurav and Ashnoor are established names in the television industry, while Amaal — a popular music composer — recently made headlines for opening up about his battle with clinical depression and his strained relationship with his family, including brother Armaan Malik. In a now-deleted social media post, Amaal revealed that he planned to maintain only professional ties with his family moving forward.
Over recent years, Bigg Boss has leaned heavily on social media influencers to fuel drama inside the house, and this season further increases their presence.
Reports also suggest that boxing legend Mike Tyson, wrestling icon The Undertaker, and cricketer Shikhar Dhawan are in talks to join as wild card entries, though official confirmations are still awaited.
For Season 19, the house design embraces a “camping in the wild” theme, inspired by the rustic simplicity of a cabin in the woods. A new addition to the house this year is the Assembly Room, aligning with the season’s theme — “Gharwalon ki Sarkaar!” — symbolizing a power shift from external influences to decisions driven by the housemates themselves.
