Nagpur witnessed a shocking incident on August 23 when the son of a notorious criminal allegedly tried to run over a police constable with his car in the Koradi police station limits. The incident occurred around 3:30 PM near Koradi Naka, where police personnel were deployed for fixed-point duty.
According to reports, Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Sudhakar Patmase and his team had received a tip-off about a suspicious vehicle passing through the area. When officers attempted to stop the car, the 19-year-old driver, identified as Rehan Ashfaq Sheikh, deliberately rammed into the constable and fled the spot. Another youth was also present in the car at the time.
Constable Patmase sustained severe injuries, including a shoulder fracture, and was rushed to a private hospital in Mankapur, where he is undergoing treatment.
Police later tracked down and arrested Rehan Sheikh. He has been booked under serious charges including attempt to murder and obstructing government work.
Sources revealed that the accused is the son of a dreaded criminal from the Sitabuldi area, already facing multiple charges of murder and narcotics trafficking. The Koradi police have launched further investigation into the case.
