Nagpur: The Digambar Jain community will observe the auspicious Paryushan Mahaparv from August 28 to September 14 at Shri Mahavir Digambar Jain Mandir, Mahavir Nagar, under the guidance of Shri Saitwal Jain Sangathan Mandal. Also known as the Daslakshan Parv, the festival is dedicated to penance, self-restraint, and forgiveness, and is one of the most awaited spiritual events for devotees every year.
Daily rituals will begin with the abhishek of deities from 6 am, followed by evening aarti, devotional sessions, and spiritual discourses by Pandit Vineet Shastri. The celebration will commence on August 28 with a flag hoisting ceremony performed by Jain Rajendra Pohre.
The cultural segment of the festival will feature a solo dance competition on August 29, a bhakti song contest on August 30, a fancy dress event on August 31, and a hymn recitation competition on September 1. A special musical evening by senior citizens will take place on September 3, while Tyag Diwas Mahotsav will be observed on September 4.
The festival will conclude with significant rituals including Sammed Shikharji Poojan, Anantnath abhishek, and Kshamavani observances, marking the culmination of the sacred fortnight.
