The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has announced a discount of 80 paise per unit for electricity consumed during the day. To take advantage of this discount, consumers must install a Time of Day (ToD) meter. So far, more than 3.34 lakh customers in the Nagpur circle have started using ToD meters and have received a total discount of over Rs 22.72 lakh.
This includes a discount of Rs 21.29 lakh for customers in the Nagpur district and Rs 1.43 lakh for customers in the Wardha district. This has significantly helped to reduce the electricity bills of customers who have installed these meters. In August, so far, more than 79,000 customers have received a discount of Rs 14.89 lakh, and this number is increasing day by day.
The number of people in the MSEDCL Nagpur circle who are saving on their electricity bills by using ToD meters is on the rise. In August, a total of 79,054 customers received a discount of Rs 14,89,004. In July, a total of 99,913 customers, including 11,176 from Wardha district and 88,737 from Nagpur district, received a discount of Rs 7,83,565. MSEDCL is widely working on installing these meters everywhere, and the number of customers getting ToD tariff discounts is increasing with each billing cycle.
The smart ToD meters being installed by MSEDCL are providing customers with accurate and timely electricity bills. This has led to a significant decrease in complaints about average bills or faulty meters. In the Nagpur circle, 461 customers have voluntarily requested MSEDCL to install smart ToD meters. This includes 387 customers from the Nagpur district and 74 from the Wardha district.
ToD meters provide you with an accurate bill based on your actual consumption. As a result, complaints about average billing and old meters have decreased. By using electricity during the day, you can get a discount of 80 paise to Re 1 per unit, which results in direct savings on your bill. MSEDCL is installing these smart ToD meters for free, so there is no financial burden on the customer. These meters are based on advanced technology, allowing for automatic monthly readings without any human intervention.
These meters are designed for the benefit of the customers. MSEDCL has given the contract to install these meters in the Nagpur circle to the Monte Carlo company. If customers have any doubts or questions about the ToD meter, they can register their complaint by scanning the provided QR code or by using the Google Form link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScOJpHweK6Zei9XrAgK80eObhRPl04-WKVP3flZnXFMcX1wzQ/viewform.
