Students’ Rights Association Slams “Blatant Injustice” in Clerk Post
A major controversy has erupted over the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) recruitment drive for Group ‘C’ posts announced on 22 August 2025. Allegations have surfaced that the Other Backward Classes (OBC) quota has been completely sidelined, depriving thousands of deserving candidates of their rightful share. The most glaring violation is in the Junior Clerk recruitment. Out of 60 posts, at least 12 should have been reserved for OBC candidates. Shockingly, the official advertisement shows zero seats for the OBC category. The irregularities don’t end there. For Tax Collector posts, out of 74 seats, 14 should have been reserved for OBCs—but once again, not a single seat has been allotted. In total, for 10 different posts with 174 vacancies, at least 34 seats should have gone to OBC candidates. Instead, only 6 seats were reserved.Calling this a blatant denial of constitutional rights, the Students’ Rights Association staged a strong protest and submitted a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner, demanding immediate rectification and implementation of proper OBC reservations in the recruitment process. The delegation was led by Shubham Tikhate (Coordinator, Students’ Rights Association), along with Vineet Gajbhiye, Dilip Durge, and Umesh Korraam of OBC Yuva Adhikar Manch, supported by several agitated students.“This is not just a clerical error, it is a deliberate attack on social justice. If corrective action is not taken, we will intensify our agitation,” the group warned.
