Nagpur’s long-delayed Amravati Road flyover is finally set for completion, with the Public Works Department (PWD) confirming its inauguration around September 3–4. The flyover, extending from Bole Petrol Pump Square past the RTO office to near Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University’s Mahatma Phule campus, has been under construction for several years, causing major inconvenience to daily commuters. Once opened, it is expected to ease traffic congestion, streamline movement along the corridor, and reduce travel time.
According to a local daily report, Sanjeev Jagtap, Executive Engineer of the NH Division (PWD), confirmed that the final phase of work is underway and the flyover will be ready for use in the first week of September.
“The project faced some delays due to heavy monsoon rains, but as of today the structural work of the bridge is complete, only the miscellaneous works remain,” he said. He further added, “Despite this being a fes-tive season, we have around 100 workers working round the clock to ensure that this flyover’s inau-garation will happen in early September”.
For years, the incomplete flyover turned Amravati Road into a commuter’s nightmare, particularly between Bole Petrol Pump and Law College Square, where potholes, narrowed lanes, and encroachments have obstructed traffic. Daily commuters to Ravi Nagar, Gokulpeth, and Sitabuldi faced persistent delays, with rush hours often chaotic near hospitals, bus stops, and residential areas such as Priyadarshini Colony and Gorepeth.
Once open, the flyover is expected to make traffic smoother on this busy road, reducing jams and saving travel time. With work almost finished, people are eagerly waiting for its opening, likely around September 3–4. If it starts on time, the project will finally give much-needed relief to thousands of daily commuters.
