A recently constructed bridge in East Nagpur, near Hasanbagh Danish Lawn, has become a danger zone for commuters. Locals allege that despite repeated complaints to Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Zone 5, no streetlight arrangements have been made, leading to frequent accidents at night.
Residents say that every new bridge in the area suffers from the same problem—potholes, poor maintenance, and lack of lighting—forcing citizens to bear daily hardships. Due to the darkness, several people have fallen on the bridge and sustained injuries, further intensifying public anger.
Speaking on the issue, Local Resident Pratik Bawankar from Nandanvan, Nagpur, said, “The administration seems to be in deep slumber. How many more lives have to be lost before action is taken? Who really benefits from these bridges—the people or the politicians?”
The incident has once again raised questions about the accountability of civic authorities and the safety measures taken for public infrastructure in East Nagpur.
