Nagpur’s Loha Bridge still remains closed, even though it was expected to open earlier. Due to heavy rains, construction work had to be halted for nearly a month. Now, it is likely that the bridge will be opened for traffic by the end of September 2025.
In the meantime, vehicle drivers are facing increasing difficulties. Traffic from Cotton Market Square is being diverted through Santra Market Square and Gandhi Gate, forcing commuters to take long detours, leading to heavy congestion in key areas.
Currently, the Railways is working on the third and fourth line project near the bridge, which is now in its final stage. The construction of the new bridge connecting Sitabuldi and Itwari stations, along with Loha Bridge, has posed major challenges. Officials had earlier announced that traffic would be allowed from August 2025, but due to delays, the opening has been pushed to September.
Senior railway officials, when approached for comments on the current status of the project, remained tight-lipped. However, sources indicate that work is progressing and efforts are being made to open the bridge for traffic soon.
