Nagpur: The Social Security Branch (SSB), of Crime Branch under Operation Shakti, raided a residence in Hudkeshwar and busted a sex racket, rescuing one woman victim. The action was carried out on September 3 evening following specific intelligence inputs.
The raid was conducted at Plot No. 22A, Vinayak Nagar, Shivaji Society, Hudkeshwar, where the accused, identified as Laxmi Harish Hatwar (48), was allegedly running a prostitution racket. Police said she was providing space for customers and forcing women into the trade for monetary gain.
During the operation, police rescued a woman and seized incriminating material, including ?1,500 cash, a mobile phone, and other items valued at around ?23,530.
Following the raid, a case was registered at Hudkeshwar Police Station under Section 143(2) BNS and relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The accused has been handed over to Hudkeshwar police for further legal proceedings.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, Additional CP Navinchandra Reddy, ACP Vasant Pardeshi, DCP Rahul Makanikar, and ACP Abhijit Patil. The raiding team was led by PI Rahul Shire along with API Shivaji Nannaware and other officials.
