Nagpur: The redevelopment of Ajni Railway Station is set to be completed by December, enabling it to handle trains across all seven platforms, including four newly constructed ones. This will allow termination of several trains at Ajni, easing congestion at Nagpur Railway Station and facilitating faster redevelopment work there, which is currently progressing at a slow pace.
Meanwhile, redevelopment of Godhni Railway Station—planned as a satellite hub for Nagpur—is expected to be ready by October.
The Ajni project is being executed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme by the Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA), with support from the Railway Construction Department and other agencies. Raipur-based M/s Keystone Infra Build is the contractor for the project. Work had slowed between 2023 and 2024 due to repeated delays in obtaining tree-felling permissions.
In contrast, Godhni’s redevelopment faced no such hurdles, though officials reportedly showed little urgency in expediting the work. Sources said Central Railway Divisional Manager Vinayak Garg is pushing for timely completion, but inter-departmental coordination issues have hampered progress.
According to senior railway officials, the redevelopment of Chandrapur station is also underway, with completion targeted for March 2026.
