The Nagpur district administration has resolved 9,404 inheritance cases under the ongoing “Jeevit Satbara” (Living 7/12 extract) campaign, launched on April 1. The drive, part of the state’s 100-day programme, aims to update land records by replacing the names of deceased account holders with their rightful heirs.
During the initial village-wise survey, revenue officers found 12,147 deceased account holders across the district. Of the 9,590 applications received, 9,404 cases were approved, giving heirs full ownership rights to agricultural land. Officials confirmed the campaign will continue beyond 100 days to cover pending and future cases.
The initiative addresses a long-standing problem where names of deceased farmers remained unchanged in records, creating legal hurdles for heirs. Without updated entries, beneficiaries were unable to access government schemes, subsidies, and loans. Lack of consensus among heirs often left mutation (ferfar) cases unresolved for years, worsening hardships for families.
Resident Deputy Collector Anup Khande said that earlier, heirs faced major difficulties due to unchanged records. “Through this campaign, cases are being systematically settled,” he noted.
Tehsil-wise approvalsMouda – 753, Kamptee – 570, Umred – 885, Bhivapur – 1,052, Kuhi – 856, Katol – 1,215, Narkhed – 666, Nagpur Rural – 159, Hingna – 477, Saoner – 470, Kalmeshwar – 849, Ramtek – 677, Parseoni – 766.
Benefits
The campaign ensures rightful heirs gain ownership without court battles, prevents loss of entitlements, and strengthens farmers’ access to government schemes.
