In a citywide safety drive on Saturday, RTO teams inspected 235 school buses and vans, penalizing 37 vehicles for violations and seizing six.
The joint operation, conducted by the Nagpur City RTO and the East Nagpur Sub-Regional RTO, came a day after the fatal collision between a school bus and a van on the Mankapur flyover.
Three inspection squads carried out thorough checks covering vehicle fitness certificates, insurance, driver licences and eligibility, first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, speed governors, and compliance with school bus regulations.
During the drive, e-challans were issued to 37 buses and vans for various breaches, and compromise fees amounting to ?2.84 lakh were collected.
