The South East Central Railway, Nagpur Division, is now preparing to develop Itwari station with modern platforms similar to Nagpur station. A master plan has already been prepared for this. Once this plan is implemented, Itwari will be directly connected with Kampti–Nagalwadi line trains, reducing the distance to Gondia by around 10 kilometers. Efforts are also being made to start direct trains for Gondia from here. Apart from this, a proposal to provide a new train for Dongargarh is also under consideration.
DRM Mr. Gupta said that under the Amrit Bharat scheme, a total of 15 stations in the Nagpur division are being developed. These include Gondia, Balaghat, and Tumsar Road, where modernization has already been completed. The work for Itwari station has been handed over to RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service). The existing old platforms will be modernized and converted into new platforms. For this purpose, the old terminal building will be demolished. As per the plan, an FOB (Foot Over Bridge) will also be constructed at the station. Itwari yard work is also expected to be completed soon. The demolition of the old building will start after the monsoon season.
Itwari–Motibagh Line Work Soon
The line from Itwari station to Motibagh Workshop and Diesel Shed is being upgraded for goods trains and MEMU services. For this, the small line will be converted into a broad-gauge line. With this, about 154 small wagons from Motibagh to Itwari will be permanently removed. Work on the 9-kilometer-long section from Godhani to Kalamna via Motibagh is also ongoing.
Special Preparations for Dongargarh Fair
Extensive preparations are underway by the South East Central Railway and Nagpur Division for the famous Dongargarh fair. To accommodate the large number of passengers, 16 additional ticket counters and 16 automatic ticket vending machines will be arranged. Extra staff will also be deployed at the station. In addition, a model route map will be created for easy passenger access to the fair. Special trains will also run from Dalli-Rajhara, Bilaspur, Raipur, Visakhapatnam, Nagpur, and other places for this occasion.
