Nagpur: Sitabuldi police arrested a 25-year-old man and seized cannabis and other valuables worth over ?2.19 lakh during an anti-narcotics operation on September 19.
At about 1.10 pm, a police team raiding the Electronics Market area near Teli Pura Dargah spotted a suspect in a white-and-brown checked shirt standing beside an Activa scooter (MH-49 BA 7396). He attempted to flee but was quickly detained.
The accused, identified as Venkatesh Sujata Sonbhadre of Reshimbagh, was found carrying 238 grams of ganja, three mobile phones and the scooter, collectively valued at approximately ?2,19,100. During interrogation, he confessed to selling ganja for profit with the help of an accomplice, Shakeel Salim Shaikh, 35, of Electronics Market, who remains absconding.
A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(2)(A) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singal, Additional CP Rajendra Dabhade, DCP Nityanand Jha and ACP Vilas Shende, with officers Vitthalsing Rajput, Chandrakant Mamatabade, Shyam Warange and their team executing the action. A search is underway to nab the absconding co-accused.
